Shanghai Small Animal Protection Association (SSAPA) is a non-profit pet organization in Shanghai that has placed more than 600 pets with adoptees.
All adoptable cats and dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered and de-wormed to make sure they are in healthy conditions. They are the few lucky ones rescued out of the thousands abandoned by their owners each year. Their survival has no meaning until you give them a sweet home!
You can help us to make a difference by:
1. Adopt - to give them a permanent home and enjoy immeasurable amount of love in return.
2. Foster - if you are working in Shanghai temporarily and want the companion of a furry friend but are unsure if you can bring it with you to your next destination, you may want to consider fostering. We feel that even a temporary home is a better option for them than living on the street or even in our shelter. We have a permanent address so you can bring the pet back to us when you leave Shanghai.
3. Donate - Rescuing an animal requires a lot of time, effort, care and patience plus love and understanding. Our goal is public education which requires sufficient funding to run many events.
4. Volunteer - You can also donate your time by becoming a volunteer to help with animal care such as walking and bathing the dogs, playing with the cats, publicity, event planning, school visits etc.
SSAPA is located in Grand Garden (Da Guan Yuan) near Pudong Airport (close to Yuandong Avenue subway station on Line 2). People can visit the SSAPA facilities to see the rescued pets, play with them and adopt!
