Detail About This Listing

Shanghai Gaelic Football Club (SGFC) is proud to host the annual All-China Gaelic Games 2014, held at the Shanghai Rugby Football Club on May 31st from 9am.

This event hosts Gaelic football teams from all around China and North Asia, promising to be a day of fun and games for all the family. Pitch-side entertainment includes a large kids play area, BBQ and full bar facilities.

SGFC is one of the city’s oldest and most vibrant sports clubs with offerings for men, women & children across varying levels of capability - from complete beginners to those playing at a highly competitive level internationally. Our members are from a number of different countries and regions around the world including Ireland, China, USA, New Zealand, Australia, England, Scotland, France and Belgium.

Gaelic Football can be summarised as a blend of soccer, rugby and basketball. In essence the sport is a fast paced field game requiring skill, speed, intelligence, stamina, strength and passion. It is a sport that is open to anybody, no matter what your skill set is. The ball used in Gaelic Football, is similar in size to a soccer ball, but is a lot heavier and harder. The game is played on a field, with goal posts very similar in shape to rugby posts. The difference in the posts is that the cross bar is lower, and we play with a goalkeeper, similar to soccer.
