Hello! My name is Devin, and having a last minute change of plan to leave Beijing a month early before my lease is up due to all of my students being gone. I have a very nice room in a very nice 2 bedroom apartment in Shuangjing. Seriously, if you have gone apartment hunting only to feel depressed because you are paying more for less than your home country... be prepared to have your faith restored! You will actually feel clean when you get out of the bathroom that is not right on top of the toilet but instead has a glass wall seperating it! The TV in the living room has been replaced. There is a queen mattress in the room, which faces north, has an awesome AC and a radiator that blasts heat in the cold Beijing winter, and a hugeeee amount of storage. The lease is officially up October 16th but the landlord is fine with you staying for another year if you wish; however, he does prefer female foreigners (I don't make the rules, and I have no idea why, sorry!). There is a deposit to move in (3,500rmb), and the rent is also 3,500rmb. I have had the same landlords for 2 years and love them (had terrible experiences with my last 2!) which in combination with the space, is why I decided to stay another year here. It is located in Baihuanjiayuan in Shuangjing. There are a plethora of shops/bar/restaurants within walking distance. There is the BEST carrefour in all of BJ (trust me, I have been to manyyyyy) just down the road, every bank your employer could possibly use, and a very cute courtyard/view. I am leaving Sept 9th and on the 9th we exchange keys for payment, the landlords should also be there at this time (as I will be getting my deposit back), and you will be free to enjoy your new place!
